NBU (National Bank of Ukraine) Opens Fundraising Account for Humanitarian Assistance to Ukrainians Affected by Russian Aggression

The account is intended for charitable contributions from Ukraine and abroad. The Ministry of Social Policy will channel the funds raised to support citizens of Ukraine severely affected by the war.

"Russian aggression has deprived thousands of Ukrainians of their homes, money, clothes, food and other basics. However, Ukraine and the rest of the world would not leave them alone with their pain. Financial support continues to come both from our country's citizens and from abroad. To rationalize the inflows of funds as humanitarian aid to war-affected Ukrainians, the NBU opened an account at the Ministry of Social Policy to accumulate charitable contributions for wartime social needs. Unlike the special account that was opened to finance the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the money from this account will be used to help those most affected by the war with Russia," - said NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.

The money transferred to this account will be used by the Ministry of Social Policy:

- to provide food and shelter to refugees and citizens displaced by military conflict
- provide clothes, shoes and medicines for them
- buy basic necessities for the population
- to pay one-off financial aid and to meet other essential needs of the population.

This account accepts multiple currencies. It was created and opened to receive transfers from international partners and donors both in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds sterling) and from Ukrainian companies and citizens in hryvnias.

If necessary, the NBU will update payment details for charitable assistance for humanitarian purposes.
